Job summary

Philosophy Education is seeking ASC Specialist Teaching Assistants to support pupils with autism across various schools and settings. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning, develop communication skills, build confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities include implementing autism-specific strategies, collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and families, and following EHCP outcomes to promote student progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASC is desirable.
• Willing to learn communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton.
• Ability to adapt approach to individual sensory, communication and learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 or small-group support to pupils.
• Support pupils to access learning and participate in school life.
• Develop positive and trusting relationships with students and staff.
• Support communication, interaction and social skills.
• Encourage independence and life skills.
• Support pupils with sensory, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and families.
• Follow individual support plans and EHCP outcomes.
