Job summary

Lucion is seeking an Asbestos Surveyor to join our Hazardous Materials team around Hemel Hempstead. This hands-on role covers management, refurbishment and demolition surveys across commercial sites with field-based travel in Hertfordshire.

You will collect precise site data using a phablet and generate high-quality NexGen reports while following HSG264 and HSE guidelines. The position demands independence, strong judgement and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Hold BOHS P402 or an equivalent qualification (RSPH or Certificate of Competence).
• Good working knowledge of HSG264 The Survey Guide.
• Full UK manual driving licence required.
• Based in Hemel Hempstead or surrounding areas with travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-discipline asbestos surveys (Management, Refurbishment, Demolition).
• Travel to client sites across Hemel Hempstead and Hertfordshire.
• Collect accurate site data with a phablet and produce high-quality NexGen reports.
• Adhere to asbestos legislation, including HSG264 and HSE requirements.
• Maintain QHSE documentation and internal assurance processes.
• Provide professional client service with clear advice and interpretation.
• Communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and contractors.
• Deliver work accurately and without shortcuts.

We’re now looking for an Asbestos Surveyor to join our growing Hazardous Materials team, based around Hemel Hempstead.

What You’ll Be Doing (And Why It Matters)

This is a proper hands‑on surveying role. You’ll be out and about across Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire and the surrounding area, working on everything from commercial buildings and construction projects to public‑sector estates and other client sites.

Your attention to detail will directly support safer buildings, better decision‑making and compliant project delivery.

• Carry out all disciplines of asbestos surveying and inspection, including Management, Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys, plus asbestos in the ground.
• Travel across Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire to visit client sites.
• Collect accurate factual and numerical site data using a phablet device, producing high‑quality reports through our award‑winning NexGen system.
• Work in line with all relevant asbestos legislation and guidance, including HSG264, HSE requirements and construction regulations.
• Maintain your personal QHSE documentation and follow our internal assurance processes.
• Provide a professional, friendly service to clients, answering questions and offering clear advice and interpretation where needed.
• Communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and contractors — because good surveying is about more than collecting samples.
• Deliver accurate, consistent work without taking shortcuts.

About You

You understand that asbestos surveying comes with responsibility — and you take that responsibility seriously.

You’ll Ideally

• Hold BOHS P402, an RSPH equivalent qualification, or a Certificate of Competence.
• Have a good working knowledge of HSG264 (The Survey Guide).
• Hold a full UK manual driving licence.
• Be based in or around Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire or the surrounding areas.
• Be comfortable travelling across the local region and occasionally further afield.
• Be flexible when occasional out‑of‑hours work is required.
• Be confident working independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.
• Bring a strong work ethic and a practical, professional approach to site work.
• Be someone clients and colleagues can rely on.
