Job description

Shape Safer Environments Through Technical Excellence

Every building has a story hidden within its structure. As an Asbestos Surveyor, you’ll be the person who uncovers the detail, applies technical expertise and ensures that clients across the UK can make informed, safe and confident decisions. If you enjoy autonomy, thrive in varied environments and take pride in accuracy and clarity, this role offers genuine scope to grow, influence and create meaningful impact.

We have multiple roles available that will cover locations across the Southeast and London. In addition to the very competitive salary and overtime rates, we also offer a company car or a car allowance, giving you the flexibility and support you need for your role.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

This role exists to deliver high quality, UKAS compliant asbestos surveying services across a wide-ranging portfolio of commercial and industrial properties. You will carry out management, refurbishment and demolition surveys, collecting precise inspection data and producing clear, robust reports aligned with UKAS accreditation and HSE guidance.

Working largely independently on client sites, you will conduct detailed inspections, bulk sampling and risk assessments, offering technically sound insights that support compliance, risk control and asset management. You will work closely with internal quality and project teams while interacting directly with clients, facilities personnel and other stakeholders.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will operate across offices, public buildings, retail, healthcare, education, manufacturing and infrastructure environments. The role involves travelling to multiple sites, managing personal workloads and deadlines, and ensuring exceptional data integrity. All work is supported by digital surveying tools, structured reporting systems and a mature quality assurance framework.

Core Capabilities
Asbestos Surveying

Your surveying expertise will be central to this role. You’ll plan and deliver comprehensive management, refurbishment and demolition surveys across commercial and industrial environments, identifying and sampling asbestos containing materials with precision. Using digital tools, you’ll capture and interpret data with accuracy, applying sound professional judgement even in restricted or high risk areas. Your work will safeguard people and assets by producing clear, defensible survey outputs that clients rely on for decision making.

Asbestos Expertise

You will be the trusted technical authority on site, bringing a thorough understanding of asbestos materials, behaviours and associated risks across demanding sectors such as aviation, pharmaceuticals and utilities. By staying ahead of evolving legislation and industry developments, you will provide measured, forward thinking advice that clients can depend on, particularly in complex or sensitive environments.

Regulatory Compliance and Technical Knowledge

You’ll apply asbestos legislation and industry standards with confidence, ensuring every survey is compliant, proportionate and grounded in evidence. Your working knowledge of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, HSG264 and supporting HSE guidance will allow you to interpret requirements pragmatically and recognise when site conditions call for escalation or adjustment. Continuous learning and technical curiosity will keep your knowledge current and your practice robust.

Data Capturing, Reporting & Quality Assurance

Accurate data underpins the credibility of every survey you complete. You’ll record detailed observations, assessments and sample information using digital platforms, supported by clear photographic evidence. Well-structured technical reports will reflect your attention to detail, clarity of language and consistency of terminology. You will take full ownership of the accuracy and completeness of your work, recognising its direct impact on compliance, accreditation and client confidence.

Client Communication & Consultancy Skills

You’ll communicate technical findings clearly and professionally, ensuring clients understand risks, limitations and practical next steps. By engaging confidently with facilities teams, project managers and operational staff, you’ll foster trust and provide proportionate, actionable advice. Your ability to manage expectations, respond constructively to questions and maintain a calm, professional presence will contribute significantly to a positive client experience.

Qualifications & Experience

You will hold BOHS P402 or an equivalent RSPH qualification, along with demonstratable experience of undertaking asbestos surveys within a UKAS accredited setting. You will already be authorised for management, refurbishment and demolition surveys and bring strong IT, literacy and numeracy skills. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Working Environment

We support flexible arrangements, including three or four day working weeks. Overtime opportunities may be available and are remunerated at enhanced rates. You will plan site visits in advance to support effective scheduling and maintain a healthy work life balance. Periodic office attendance is expected for collaboration, training, quality reviews and wider team engagement. The role involves regular travel to client sites and occasional support for out of hours projects.

Equality and Diversity

In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace. Please inform us if you need any accommodations during the recruitment process or in your day-to-day role.
