Package: Starting from 24,160 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)


Working Pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday as a non-working day. Employees are required to work fully onsite. We are recruiting for an Asbestos Management Operative within the Radiochemistry Group. The role involves inspecting buildings and structures to identify, test, and manage asbestos-containing materials.


Key Duties


  • Conduct safety surveys and collect material samples

  • Maintain the company asbestos registers


Key Accountabilities


  • Maintain a register of all Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACMs) or presumed ACMs, detailing their location, type, amount, and condition

  • Work in compliance with health and safety legislation, AWE standards, and regulatory requirements including the Control of Asbestos Regulations

  • Complete required training, qualifications, and site assessments to demonstrate technical competence

  • Carry out asbestos surveys by inspecting buildings, structures, and equipment, taking samples, and assessing asbestos condition, type, location, and risk

  • Update asbestos records accurately by maintaining inspection data, condition assessments, and the Asbestos Data Management System

  • Support compliance with CAR Reg 4 by applying management controls, informing facility management of damaged materials, updating risk scores, and recording removal or remedial works
