**Asbestos Management Operative****Location:** **RG7 4PR**, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with **free onsite parking**.**Package: Starting from £24,160** (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)**Working Pattern:**AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight, with **every other Friday as a non-working day.** For this role, employees are required to work fully onsite. We support flexible working arrangements where possible, including part-time and varied working hours, while maintaining an onsite presence. Could this role be the opportunity for you to play your part?**AWE is currently recruiting for an **Asbestos Management Operative** for the **Radiochemistry Group.** The purpose of the role is inspecting buildings/ structures to find, test, and manage asbestos containing materials. Key duties include carrying out safety surveys, collecting material samples, and maintaining the company asbestos registers. Key accountabilities include:* Actively maintain a register detailing the location, type, amount, and condition of all Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACMs) or presumed ACMs.* Work in line with relevant health and safety legislation, AWE standards and regulatory requirements, including the Control of Asbestos Regulations.* Complete all required training, qualifications, and site assessments to demonstrate technical competence for the role.* Carry out asbestos surveys by safely inspecting buildings, structures, and equipment, taking samples, and assessing the condition, type, location, and risk of asbestos-containing materials.* Maintain accurate asbestos records by updating inspection/survey data, condition assessments, and the Asbestos Data Management System.* Support continued compliance with CAR Reg 4 by applying management controls, informing facility management of damaged materials, updating risk scores, and recording asbestos removal or remedial works.**What are we looking for?*** An interest in asbestos management, building safety, or compliance.* Awareness of health and safety regulations and willingness to learn asbestos legislation and standards.* Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse information.* Good written and verbal communication skills.* Confident working both independently and as part of a team.* Experience with surveys, inspections, or compliance systems would be beneficial but is not essential.* A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous development.* Committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and building positive working relationships.**Work hard, be rewarded:**We ask a lot and set the bar high because our work truly matters.
