Job description

Axcis Education is currently working with a pupil referral unit seeking an Art Teacher for a fixed-term position from September 2024, covering maternity leave. The setting has 25 pupils and was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in 2023. It serves local schools across North Yorkshire and has a dedicated team experienced in supporting pupils back into mainstream education. We are looking for an Art Teacher, preferably with experience in similar settings or in mainstream schools with high challenging behaviors, and capable of supporting pupils with additional learning and SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan and deliver Art lessons for KS3 and KS4 in collaboration with the wider teaching team and SLT.
  2. Prepare and deliver lessons in non-core subjects.
  3. Monitor pupils' progress and intervene when necessary to keep them on track.
  4. Teach in small group settings.
  5. Foster positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  6. Support and raise aspirations of SEMH pupils.
Qualifications:

Ideally hold QTS status.
