Job summary

Nelson & Colne College is seeking a part-time Art & Media Technician (0.5) to join the Creative & Digital department. The role is primarily based on site at Nelson & Colne College with some cross-site travel.

You will provide technical support for teaching Art and Media, including preparation of photosilkscreens, setting up classrooms, stocking, and handling equipment for exams and displays. The post requires GCSEs including Maths and English and may prefer a DIP HE/HND/BA in Art & Media;

Qualifications

• GCSEs including Maths and English are required.
• Practical experience in Art & Media practice is desirable.
• Ability to prepare photosilkscreens and use visual imaging software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the teaching of Art and Media, with responsibility for preparation of photosilkscreens.
• Assist with classroom set-ups, ordering of stock, and stock management.
• Assist in using computer software for visual imaging and in mounting/presenting work for exams and displays.
• Prepare and organise safe storage, usage, disposal and ordering of equipment/materials for technical support.
• Mount and present work for exams, displays and exhibitions.

Salary: Up to £9,940 (£26,469.51 FTE) per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 17.5 per week
Working Weeks: Term-time only - 36 per year
Contract Type: Permanent

The Exciting Role

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Technician in our Creative & Digital department, focusing on Art & Media to join the team on a part-time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be primarily based at Nelson & Colne College but may be required to travel across sites.

What You Will Be Doing:

• To provide technical support for the teaching of Art and Media with particular responsibility for preparation of photosilkscreens
• To assist with classroom set-ups, ordering of stock etc.
• To assist in the usage of computer software for visual imaging
• To prepare/organise the safe storage, usage, disposal and ordering of equipment/materials associated with technical support
• To mount, present work for exams, displays and exhibitions

What We Are Looking For:

• 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
• DIP HE/HND/BA in Art & Media (desirable)
• Practical experience, awareness and understanding of Art & Media practice (desirable)
• Ability to prepare photosilkscreens (desirable)
• Ability to use computer software for visual imaging (desirable)
• Ability to mount and present work for exams, displays, exhibitions (desirable)
