Job summary

Cove School invites applications for a Curriculum Leader of Art to inspire pupils across years 7–11 and lead the Art Department. You will oversee curriculum delivery for Fine Art, 3D Art, Textile Art and Photography, and coordinate department resources and visits to enrich learning.

The successful candidate will hold a good degree in a related subject, a recognised teaching qualification, strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent communication, and a proven ability to mentor staff and raise

Qualifications

• Good degree in a directly related subject.
• 11–16 curriculum knowledge up to GCSE.
• Recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or equivalent.
• Safeguarding awareness and good health & safety practice.
• Good IT literacy.
• Capable of delivering inspirational lessons to the full age/ability range.
• Positive and authoritative rapport with pupils.
• Excellent classroom management.
• Strong communication with pupils, parents, staff and visitors.
• Organised and self-motivated with a track record of meeting targets.

Responsibilities

• Engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge pupils to excel academically.
• Have relentlessly high expectations of themselves and pupils.
• Teach across years 7–11.
• Enhance teaching quality through resource sharing, observations, mentoring and CPD.
• Lead the curriculum area, including setting and marking examinations, leading departmental meetings and admin tasks.
• Safeguard and promote health, safety and welfare of children and staff.
• Support school aims and policies.
