On behalf of our client, we offer an excellent opportunity within the technical sales team of this rapidly growing business for an experienced Field-based Area Sales Engineer. The candidate should have a proven track record as a business developer and an excellent salesman in the Electrical Control and Automation industry. The role can be filled as either a Sales Engineer or, for a more experienced candidate, as a Business Manager for the specific territory.
The successful candidate will sell a full range of high-quality Industrial Control & Automation products, including Control Gear, Switchgear & Circuit Protection, Variable Speed Drives, Sensors, PLC, HMI, Enclosures, Cable Management & Consumables, and Process Instrumentation. They should also be capable of providing customised and packaged solutions to OEMs, End Users, System Integrators, and Panel Builders across South Yorkshire, parts of North Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, and Cheshire.
While induction and ongoing training will be provided, candidates should have sales and technical experience in the Industrial Automation industry, along with a record of sales success. A formal qualification in Electrical/Electronic disciplines is desirable but not essential; the ability to demonstrate relevant knowledge and sales skills is crucial. Additional career development training to enhance sales skills is a plus.
The role involves working to achieve defined sales targets, developing personal plans, managing and growing an existing portfolio of accounts, and identifying new business opportunities. The position is Monday to Friday, with typical office hours, but requires road travel and flexibility to meet business needs. Strong organisational and communication skills, teamwork, autonomy, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential attributes.
