Overview of the role

Purpose: As Area Operations Managers, you will be responsible for the management and performance of between 8-15 pharmacies. You will build capable & competent teams to deliver the best community pharmacy experience, focusing on delivering KPIs and budgets, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining quality and standards across all pharmacies.

Scope: This role reports directly to the Senior/Regional Operations Manager and will be responsible for:

  1. Operational visits to each pharmacy every two weeks (minimum), leaving SMART actions to drive business performance.
  2. Supporting our ‘Delivering Well’ strategy through alignment of pharmacy activity to corporate strategy.
  3. Driving the delivery of Rx growth, services, and OTC sales in line with budgets.
  4. Ensuring compliance with all processes & procedures to deliver excellent standards.
  5. Monitoring competitor activity to identify opportunities to grow market share.

Patient Safety, Quality, and Standards:

  • Ensuring all pharmacies meet GPhC standards & NHS contract requirements.
  • Investigating PSIs & CD discrepancies when required.
  • Delivering all NHS quality standards.

Delivering Outstanding Care:

  • Promoting and delivering NHS and private services.
  • Handling complaints & incidents appropriately.
  • Building relationships with the local healthcare community.
  • Offering tailored advice & products for prevention, treatment, and wellbeing.

High Performance Team:

  • Recruits, builds, and motivates teams.
  • Manages performance through coaching & feedback.
  • Develops internal & external talent.
  • Ensures clear communication of roles & priorities.
  • Fosters ongoing learning environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Experience in field/multi-site management.
  • Understanding of the pharmacy market & profession (desirable).
  • Commercial & analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective coaching & feedback skills.
  • Strong planning & organizing abilities.
  • Building & maintaining professional networks.
  • Understanding NHS contract and GPhC/PSNI standards.
