The Vacancy

Job Title: Area Maintenance Manager (Retail FM)

Location: Thames and London City

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £47,200 - £52,500 per annum + 11-15% LWA (depending on experience) + Car/Car Allowance of £5,700 + Annual Bonus

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Area Maintenance Manager to join our team, working with one of our major UK retail clients.

This role involves leading a mobile technical team, delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance services, fostering strong client relationships, and ensuring service excellence.

You will manage technicians and client interactions, ensuring compliance with all legislative standards and service levels. Responsibilities also include overseeing compliance audits, supporting continuous improvement, training, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver Outstanding Customer Service: Ensure site coverage 24/7, 365 days, maintaining high service levels.
  2. Client-Focused Performance Management: Monitor KPIs, implement corrective actions to improve client satisfaction.
  3. Technical Support & Team Development: Guide, coach, and support the mobile engineering team.
  4. Resource Management: Ensure availability of tools and equipment for efficient maintenance.
  5. Collaborative Support & Leadership: Support the Divisional Operations Manager with technical and personnel issues.
  6. Operational Continuity: Cover for the Divisional Operations Manager as needed.

Financial responsibilities include budget control, cost management, and supporting business growth through cost-effective opportunities and strategic planning.

People Responsibilities
  1. Building a High-Performing Team: Lead recruitment, induction, and development of team members.
  2. Developing & Coaching: Provide ongoing training and appraisals.
  3. Ensuring Compliance & Competency: Maintain industry standards and validation.
  4. Performance Standards: Hold technicians accountable for quality and professionalism.
  5. Conduct & Capability: Manage team conduct, apply disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  6. Attendance Management: Monitor attendance, conduct return-to-work interviews, and provide support.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, available/out of hours, and hold a full driving license.
