Job description

Architectural Technologist

South Manchester | Permanent

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Architectural Technologist to join a highly regarded architectural practice and become part of a specialist education team delivering exciting projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of new project wins, this established architectural practice is expanding its technical capability and is looking to appoint experienced Architectural Technologists to its south Manchester studio.

Working within a specialist Education team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of a wide range of projects across the education sector, including primary, secondary, further and higher education facilities.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being involved in projects from design development through to technical delivery and who is confident taking responsibility for the quality and coordination of their work.

The Role

As an Architectural Technologist, you will play an important role in the successful delivery of projects, producing high-quality technical information and working closely with clients, consultants and the wider design team.

  • Producing detailed drawings, designs, specifications and schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Developing projects in accordance with statutory and technical requirements.
  • Managing and coordinating technical information to meet project programmes and information-release deadlines.
  • Taking responsibility for projects through all RIBA stages.
  • Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Attending and contributing confidently to client meetings, design-team meetings and presentations.
  • Coordinating design information and resolving technical issues as projects develop.
  • Supporting the wider team and helping to maintain high standards of technical delivery.
  • Taking ownership of your projects and ensuring key programme milestones are achieved.
About You

You’ll be an experienced Architectural Technologist with a strong technical background and the confidence to take ownership of projects.

  • 5+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Proven experience managing projects through RIBA Stages 26.
  • Strong technical knowledge and an understanding of statutory design requirements.
  • Previous experience of project running and technical coordination.
  • The confidence to take a lead role in client and design-team meetings.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, decisive approach and the ability to work effectively to project programmes.
  • Experience of DfE requirements and working practices, together with experience across primary and secondary school projects, would be particularly advantageous.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is much more than a production‑based technical role. You’ll be joining a specialist team where your experience and technical expertise will have a genuine influence on the successful delivery of projects.

  • Work on meaningful education projects that have a tangible impact on communities and future generations.
  • Take genuine project ownership, rather than simply being responsible for isolated packages of work.
  • Join an established specialist education team with an excellent track record across the sector.
  • Develop your technical and project‑running experience within a supportive professional environment.
  • Work alongside experienced architects, technologists and wider design professionals.
  • Continue your professional development through structured CPD and in‑house learning opportunities.
The Package

The practice offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Hybrid/flexible working.
  • 1pm finish every Friday.
  • 31 days' holiday including bank holidays, increasing to 33 days with service.
  • CIAT membership fees covered.
  • Comprehensive CPD programme and in‑house seminars.
  • Free parking and excellent transport links.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
  • Option to purchase additional annual leave.
  • Birthday day off.
  • Volunteering day.
  • Subsidised fitness classes.
  • Retail and travel discounts.
  • Supportive and close‑knit working environment.
