Job summary

Bimplus in Leeds is seeking an Architectural Technician to join their in-house technical team and help deliver residential developments. You will produce detailed drawings, develop schemes from concept to construction-ready detail, and manage planning-condition responses with support from experienced colleagues.

You'll own specific project elements, work independently within a small team, and participate in site visits to witness live developments while contributing to a growing pipeline of work.

Our client is a well-established, family-owned residential developer building high-quality new homes across Yorkshire. With decades of experience behind them, they've built a reputation for going where the volume builders won't, taking on sites with real character or a bit of complexity, and turning them into developments that stand out on quality and finish.

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for an Architectural Technician to join their in-house technical team, working alongside and supporting an experienced Head of Architecture with a deep background in residential development. This is a chance to get stuck into live projects from day one, taking real ownership of scheme elements rather than being one of many hands on a drawing.

You'll be producing working drawings, developing schemes, and handling planning condition responses and supporting statements: the kind of role where your output visibly shapes what gets built. As the team's pipeline grows, there's scope to take on more responsibility and shape the role around your strengths.

What You'll Be Doing

• Producing detailed working drawings and technical packages for residential schemes
• Developing and progressing scheme designs from concept through to construction-ready detail
• Preparing responses to planning conditions and supporting technical statements
• Owning specific projects/scheme elements with a good degree of independence
• Liaising with the wider development, commercial and construction teams, plus external consultants
• Occasional site visits to support live developments; this isn't a purely desk-bound role

What They're Looking For

• Strong, confident AutoCAD skills; non-negotiable
• Residential experience is strongly preferred, ideally with exposure to house building specifically
• Around 5 years' relevant experience, though this is a guide rather than a hard cut-off
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership, while collaborating closely with a small, experienced team
• Qualified architects with a technical, production-focused skillset are also encouraged to apply; package would be discussed based on experience
