Job summary

MSC Cruises is seeking an Architect Manager to lead interior and exterior design development for vessels within the New Building Programme. You will coordinate with technical, marine, and naval teams to ensure guest and crew areas meet brand requirements while balancing schedules, quality, and cost.

You will oversee the drawing process, manage external architects and shipyards, and mentor junior staff, traveling frequently to shipyards and operations to support project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture/interior design with focus on Ship/Yacht design preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in architectural development, cruise industry preferred.
  • Strong 2D and 3D drafting skills using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Rhino or SketchUp.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the drawing process and coordinate shipyard deliverables after concept approval.
  • Manage external architects/consultants and interactions with shipyards.
  • Coordinate the architectural and interior/exterior design value engineering process with stakeholders.
  • Ensure adoption of standard project management, commercial, risk, and data management processes.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff.
  • Support Pre-Contract/R&D activities and board presentations.

Job description

Your Purpose The Architecture & Design department is responsible for the interior and exterior design development of vessels within the MSC Cruises New Building Programme, working in partnership with technical, marine, and naval architecture teams. Reporting to the Director, the Architect Manager is responsible for leading the interior and exterior design development of all vessels aligned to a single brand; MSC Cruises. The role will ensure that all guest (and crew) areas of vessels within the brand will be designed, developed, and outfitted in accordance with product and brand requirements whilst balancing schedules, quality, and cost. They will be required to follow the project from concept stage through to final delivery. The role will require frequent visits to vessels in operation, shipyards, and the premises of subcontractors to carry out supporting works as necessary. Your Impact

  • Manages the drawing process and coordinates shipyard deliverables following owner approval of the concept.
  • Manages external architects/consultants and interactions with the relevant shipyards (the builder). Acts as escalation point for architectural development risks and issues through the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the architectural and interior/exterior design value engineering process within projects, liaising with all stakeholders as required to ensure maximum value is obtained without compromising the architectural intent.
  • Ensures adoption of standard business processes related to project management, commercial management, risk and issue management, document, and data management.
  • Coaches and mentors junior staff.
  • Supports the Director in Pre-Contract / R&D Activities as required and board presentations.

  • Language: English (fluent both written and spoken)
