Architect (Project Manager) – Retrofit & Social Housing

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in King's Cross, London)

Our client is seeking a talented, ARB-registered Architect to step into a Project Manager role within their specialist practice, focusing on the design, coordination, and delivery of retrofit programmes in the social housing sector. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced architect looking to pivot into a more project management-led position, while still applying their architectural expertise in a meaningful and impactful way.

The business is a values-driven social enterprise with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality retrofit projects and providing procurement and programme management services to public sector clients. You will work closely with the Founding Director and Associate Director in a highly collaborative and mission-focused team, playing a key role in delivering projects that directly improve homes and communities.

Key Requirements

  • ARB-registered Architect with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) – this is a strict requirement for the position.
  • Strong background in leading UK-based construction projects through all stages, with an emphasis on delivery and completion.
  • Demonstrable experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach for a wide range of clients and partners.
  • Solid technical knowledge of both traditional and modern construction methods.
  • Competence in preparing Employers’ Requirements and administering contracts.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and statutory compliance.
  • Familiarity with procurement strategies, contract administration, and supply chain management.
  • Awareness of retrofit standards and frameworks including PAS 2035, PAS 2030, TrustMark, SAP, and EPC assessments (training can be provided).
  • Desirable (Training can be provided if not currently held).
  • Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
  • Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not available for this role.

What’s On Offer

  • Permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week).
  • Hybrid working (2 days per week in office).
  • Salary range: £40,000 – £55,000 depending on experience.
  • 30 days annual leave including public holidays.
  • Additional paid leave (1 day birthday leave + 1 day volunteering).
  • Private health insurance.
  • High-spec laptop and specialist training provided.
  • A supportive, purpose-led team with real opportunities for progression.

If you are an ARB-registered Architect with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience, and are keen to evolve your career into project management while remaining closely connected to architecture and design delivery, this is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking, mission-led team creating tangible change in the housing sector.
