Job summary

9B Careers Ltd is recruiting a Part 2 Assistant or recently qualified Architect for a small east London practice. You will work with project leaders from early design through to technical delivery, in a team that integrates architecture and interiors.

The role emphasizes developing proposals, producing coordinated drawings in ArchiCAD, and contributing to planning, technical packages and material research. Hospitality experience and German skills are welcome but not essential.

Qualifications

• Part 2 architectural qualification or equivalent.
• 3 years’ hands-on high-end residential experience supporting a project leader.
• Portfolio showing thoughtful design, spatial understanding, clear communication and technical detailing.
• Confidence drawing and modelling with ArchiCAD.
• Interest in materials, construction, sustainability and the relation between architecture and interiors.
• Good written, verbal and graphic communication skills.
• Organised, proactive approach; ability to meet deadlines and take feedback.
• Hospitality experience and German-language skills welcome but not essential.

Job description

Our client is a small, east London-based practice whose work spans new-build homes, sensitive renovations, listed buildings and boutique hospitality projects. Architecture, interior architecture and interior design develop together from the outset. They design for how spaces are experienced: the light and ease of a family home, the atmosphere and energy of a restaurant – and the details that give each its character. Clear spatial thinking, inventive ideas and carefully resolved materials come together to create places that endure. This practice offers 2 days of hybrid working but no sponsorship is available.

About the role:

You will be a Part 2 Assistant or recently qualified Architect and get to work closely with project leaders and senior project leaders. You will contribute to projects from early design ideas through to technical information and delivery. Within a small, collaborative team, you will explore how architecture and interiors develop together and how design decisions translate into built work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• developing proposals through sketches, digital models and physical models
• preparing coordinated drawings, presentations and project information using ArchiCAD
• supporting planning applications, technical packages and material research
• collaborating with architects and interior designers on layouts, finishes, joinery and architectural details
• assisting with consultant coordination, site visits and project records
• planning tasks, checking your work carefully and communicating progress clearly

About you

You will have:

• a Part 2 architectural qualification or equivalent
• three years’ hands-on experience in a studio specialising in high-end residential work, supporting a project leader directly
• a portfolio demonstrating thoughtful design, spatial understanding, clear communication and technical detailing
• confidence drawing and modelling with ArchiCAD
• an interest in materials, construction, sustainability and the relationship between architecture and interiors
• good written, verbal and graphic communication skills
• an organised, proactive approach and the ability to meet deadlines and respond constructively to feedback
• you will bring curiosity, initiative and care to your work, enjoy contributing to a shared design process, and be willing to ask questions and take responsibility
• hospitality experience and German-language skills are welcome but not essential, due to their other office in Germany.
