Job summary

Hull City Council seeks a Tree Gang Operative to deliver arboricultural maintenance on council-owned land in Hull. You will perform crown lifting and shaping to facilitate vehicle and pedestrian passage, prune, reduce and fell trees as needed, and manage site clearance and safety on completion.

The role covers formative pruning, removal of epicormic growth, stump treatment, and potential 24-hour emergency duties. Excellent pension and career development opportunities accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Carry out arboricultural tasks including pruning, felling and planting.
• Perform crown lifting and shaping operations to trees that require this work.
• Perform crown reduction to trees identified as needing this work.
• Perform tree felling operations by sections or straight felling where site allows.
• Perform formative pruning to keep the tree shape and remove dead branches.
• Remove epicormic growth from trunk and base of trees.
• Undertake stump and timber chipping operations with appropriate equipment.
• Apply chemical to tree stumps to prevent re-growth.
• Carry out site clearance to leave the area safe after work.
• Provide cover for the Tree Gang Chargehand as required.
• Provide a 24 hour emergency call out service on a rota basis.

Responsibilities
