Job summary

Avove Utilities in the UK is seeking skilled Arborists to join our team on high-profile energy infrastructure projects with the NorthernPower Grid. You’ll undertake practical arboriculture tasks, climb and prune trees, and ensure safe, timely power-line clearances to BS3998 standards.

You should have or be working towards Utility Arb NPTC tickets; additional qualifications in electrical knowledge and first aid are valued.

Qualifications

• Desirable Utility Arb NPTC qualifications including 0039-20 to 23 and 0020-61.
• Additional NPTC progression qualifications listed, desirable for recruitment.
• Emergency First Aid at Work and Forestry First Aid training desired.

Responsibilities

• Undertake practical arboriculture tasks contributing to voltage programme within timescales.
• Climb, prune and tidy sites and complete data records.
• Adhere to legislation on tree management for power line clearance and TPOs.
• Respect Conservation Area restrictions and European Protected Species rules.
• Manage landowner interactions and follow work-pack prescriptions with clear communication.

Job description

Our work supports the upgrade and maintenance of the national electricity network, ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable energy delivery.

We are seeking skilled and motivated Arborists to join our professional team. If you're looking for stability, progression, and the opportunity to work on a high-profile energy infrastructure project, this is your chance.

What will your day look like...

• Undertaking practical Arboriculture tasks contributing to an efficient combined voltage programme of tree clearance, within prescribed timescales.
• Climbing, pruning and site tidy up in line with BS3998 2010 and completion of data records.
• Adhering to all relevant legislation pertaining to tree management in relation to power line clearance, including Tree Preservation Orders,
• Conservation Area restrictions and European Protected Species.
• Landowner management including adhering to the agreed access and egress routes, work prescription as detailed on the work pack and maintaining a good communication with landowners when on the work site.

• Further desirable Utility Arb NPTC Qualifications 0039-31 to 38: Aerial Pruning & Rigging, Medium & Large Tree Felling, Individual & Multiple Windblown, Chainsaw from a MEWP & 0038-35 MEWP Working. 301 Utility Arb Basic Electrical Knowledge,
• Emergency First Aid at Work & Forestry First Aid Typical Utility Arb NPTC Progression Training upon Recruitment 302 to 305: Tree Species Recognition, Ground & Aeriel Pruning, Assisted Fell and Pole Top Rescue
