Job summary

West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) is seeking a detail-oriented Apprenticeships Compliance Officer to ensure the Level 3 Operational Firefighter apprenticeship meets DfE and DWP funding rules.

You will manage compliance across the apprentice journey—from recruitment and onboarding to gateway, EPA, and final achievement—using ILR data submissions and e-portfolio systems, with a strong focus on quality and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience in IQA or similar quality-focused roles in apprenticeships or FE.
• Teaching or IQA qualification is required.
• Proven ILR data submissions and e-portfolio usage experience.
• Strong knowledge of DfE/DWP funding rules and Ofsted frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory oversight of DfE/DWP funding rules and Ofsted requirements.
• Lead an apprenticeship compliance framework for Level 3 Operational Firefighter.
• Oversee evidence collection, eligibility checks, ITPS, progress reviews, and OTJ hours.
• Manage ILR data entry, validation, and e-portfolio submissions.
• Support QA, standardisation, moderation, and finance claim accuracy.
• Ensure evidence is robust for inspections, audits and external reviews.
• Analyse performance data to produce management reports for managers and trainers.
