Job description

Morson is recruiting on behalf of a leading defence equipment manufacturer based in Bolton, Greater Manchester. This is a contract role, with a high likelihood of long-term employment.

£20.37 per hour (£22.83 with holiday pay), rising to £21.37 per hour (£23.95 with holiday pay) after 12 weeks. UMBRELLA RATES AVAILABLE - £27.37 per hour, rising to £28.71 after 12 weeks. Role is INSIDE IR35.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 37 hours or more per week.

Eligibility for SC (Secret Level) UK Security Clearance is required. Both the role and client site have ITAR nationality restrictions.

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for manufacturing and testing tasks within the mechanical department, adhering to product certification procedures, workmanship standards, budgets, and timelines to meet project objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Certifying products according to certification procedures.
  2. Maintaining product certification through regular audits.
  3. Applying a versatile skill set across various tasks.
  4. Being familiar with all manufacturing equipment, tools, and measuring instruments.
  5. Meeting manufacturing build times.
  6. Completing all paperwork related to the manufacturing data pack.
  7. Ensuring high standards of workmanship and product quality.
  8. Complying with all manufacturing procedures.
  9. Maintaining a safe working environment.
  10. Practicing good housekeeping.
  11. Sharing best practices with team members.
  12. Demonstrating customer focus, teamwork, planning, flexibility, and adaptability.

Required skills and experience:

  1. Formal technical engineering or craft apprenticeship (proof required at application).
  2. Vocational NVQ Level 3, BTEC ONC/HNC, or equivalent.
  3. Significant mechanical fitting experience, especially with intricate work.
