Job summary

Tiro is offering an 20-month Level 3 Materials Technician apprenticeship in Birmingham, supporting BBV HS2 labs. You’ll gain hands-on lab experience, learn testing methods, data recording, and site-based materials testing for roads and infrastructure projects.

You'll train through a blended program with online and in-person sessions, mentored, and spend significant off-the-job training time while developing practical skills in a dynamic construction environment.

Qualifications

• Be 21 or over.
• Not be in full-time education.
• Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
• Have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Perform materials testing in a laboratory environment.
• Assist with testing concrete, aggregates, and asphalt.
• Support equipment operation and recording of results.
• Help develop and implement testing methods and documentation.
• Travel between sites to collect materials for testing.
• Contribute to maintaining laboratory accreditation and safety standards.
