Job summary

Salford City College is seeking a committed trainer/assessor to join our apprenticeship delivery team in Salford. This permanent role focuses on electrical installation and involves collaborating with employers and apprentices to deliver an outstanding learning experience.

The ideal candidate will have industry experience in installation or maintenance electrician apprenticeships, strong communication skills, and ideally hold an assessor qualification.

Qualifications

  • Relevant industry experience and qualifications.
  • Experience of supporting apprentices undertaking installation or maintenance electrician apprenticeships.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Assessor qualification preferred; teaching/training or IQA qualification beneficial.
  • Applications from experienced electricians moving into education considered.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with stakeholders (virtual/in-person) to discuss apprenticeship journey.
  • Provide information and guidance on the apprenticeship journey to apprentices and employers.
  • Support apprentices to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours.
  • Undertake site-based assessments and progress reviews with employers and learners.
  • Support learners to achieve AM2S and maintain accurate records.
  • Identify new apprenticeship opportunities and contribute to meeting targets.
  • Deliver short training courses for a large employer and help the team exceed targets.

Salary: Band £32,944 - £37,006 pro rata Incremental progression throughout the band is available.

About the Role

Salford City College have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed trainer/assessor to join our dynamic apprenticeship delivery team. This permanent position is ideally suited to someone with an electrical installation background.

As part of the building services engineering delivery team, you will work closely with colleagues, employers and apprentices to ensure that apprentices have an outstanding learning experience, successfully achieve their apprenticeship journey and advance within their chosen career.

The responsibilities of the job include: meeting with stakeholders (both virtually and in-person), providing relevant information and guidance on the apprenticeship journey, supporting apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours, undertaking site-based assessments, reviewing progress with employers and apprentices, supporting learners to achieve AM2S, maintaining accurate records, identifying new apprenticeship opportunities, delivering short training courses for a large employer and helping the team to reach and exceed ambitious targets.

The ideal candidate for this role will have relevant industry experience and qualifications, experience of supporting apprentices undertaking installation or maintenance electrician apprenticeships, strong communication and customer service skills, and will ideally hold an assessor qualification. A teaching, training or IQA qualification and knowledge of e-portfolio systems would also be beneficial.
