Job Title: Apprenticeship Audit Manager (Military)

Reports to: Senior Apprenticeship MIS & Funding Compliance Manager
Job Purpose:
Pearson TQ are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated individual to join our Apprenticeship Funding Compliance Team. The Apprenticeship Audit Manager will be responsible for overseeing the internal and external audit processes within Pearson TQ's military apprenticeship provision.
The successful applicant will work to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g. DfE/ESFA, Ofsted), funding rules, internal audit policies and Army standard operating procedures (SOPs). They'll also lead on military phase 1 and phase 2 audit planning, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of Pearson TQ's apprenticeship programs.
We require someone who is methodical and tenacious with a thorough knowledge of the apprenticeship funding rules, experience with ESFA audit, and who is passionate about learning and how this can progress people's lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage internal audits of Pearson TQ's military apprenticeship provision, including Army issued SOP documentation, learner evidence packs, ILR data and funding compliance.
- Prepare for and manage all external phase 1 and phase 2 military audit activity and any ESFA/DfE funding assurance reviews.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders pertaining to third party military audit activity.
- Ensure compliance with Pearson TQ's internal audit policy and relevant internal and external KPIs.
- Monitor compliance with apprenticeship funding rules, Army standard operating procedures and other regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement audit schedules, risk-based audit plans, and reporting mechanisms.
- Identify areas of non-compliance and work with relevant teams and stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
- Provide training and guidance to delivery staff and compliance teams on audit readiness and compliance best practices.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in funding rules, audit requirements, and sector regulations.
- Drive best practice within delivery teams pertaining to the logging of off-the-job hours on OneFile e-portfolio.
- Produce detailed audit reports and present findings to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with quality, compliance, and delivery teams to ensure data integrity and process alignment.
- Work within the spirit of the Pearson/Pearson TQ's organisational values and culture.
- Ensure that you apply all of the above with practical application of Pearson and Pearson TQ's policies around Safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR, Data Protection and Security, Equality and Diversity, Confidentiality, Health and Safety and all other policies.
- Undertake regular professional development to stay well informed in learning, development, funding and data compliance knowledge and practice, as well as to undertake any mandatory training required by the business or associated regulatory bodies.
- Undertake any other duties in line with your experience and role as required.
What we are looking for- Proven experience in audit, compliance, or quality assurance within apprenticeship provision.
- Strong understanding of ESFA/DfE apprenticeship funding rules, ILR management, PDSATs and apprenticeship standards.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- The ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical guidance.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve compliance issues.
- Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:- Experience with ESFA/DfE funding assurance reviews (ESFA audit).
- Experience of apprenticeship delivery within a range or organisations.
- Familiarity with ILR MIS (e.g. Maytas) and e-portfolios (e.g. OneFile).
