Job summary

Fenland District Council is recruiting an Apprentice Workshop Technician to join the Environmental Services team in Wisbech. This 3-year fixed-term apprenticeship provides hands-on learning in servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicles and equipment in a busy workshop.

You will study towards a recognised qualification, attend college one day per week, and may have the opportunity to undertake HGV driver training.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and workshop practices to Level 2/3.
• Commitment to attending college one day per week throughout the apprenticeship.
• Ability to work safely and follow health and safety procedures.
• Good organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn to inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Fault finding and diagnostics.
• Planned and preventative maintenance.
• Vehicle inspections and compliance checks.
• Safe working practices and workshop procedures.
