Apprentice Technician
As a Technician, you will be involved in all aspects of maintenance and repair, from routine servicing to the complete component overhaul of vehicle systems. The service provided by the workshop is a major factor considered by customers when they decide to replace their car; therefore, technicians are vital to customer care.
Working for Hawco Group, you will be part of one of the few remaining family-owned car retailers in the Highlands, which has over 70 years of experience delivering excellent service to motorists in the north of Scotland.
When you start your apprenticeship, you will be required to go on training on a one-week block release. Over the 3 years of the Service Technician Apprenticeship, you will be required to complete 16 weeks of training:
You will learn in a well-equipped environment and in customer interaction areas at the Volkswagen Group’s National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes, where an industry-standard learning environment has been created. A Vocational Learning Advisor will be your support and moderator during the Apprenticeship.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £7.55 per hour as of April 2025. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices, the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
