Job summary

Nottingham College is seeking an Apprentice Recruitment Assistant to join our friendly People Services team in Nottingham. You will support the full recruitment lifecycle, from posting vacancies to onboarding new colleagues, while learning HR administration and safer recruitment practices.

You’ll work towards your Level 3 HR CIPD qualification, with one dedicated study day per week, and, on successful completion, progress to a Recruitment Assistant role on Band 4 (£25,256–£26,348 per annum).

Qualifications

  • No prior HR experience is required; however, administration experience is desirable.
  • You will work towards Level 3 CIPD qualification with one study day per week.
  • The role supports recruitment lifecycle activities and onboarding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment campaigns by posting vacancies and answering candidate inquiries.
  • Provide first-line support to candidates and respond to recruitment queries.
  • Complete pre-employment checks, including references, DBS disclosures and right to work documentation.
  • Prepare offer letters, contracts and onboarding paperwork for new starters.
  • Maintain recruitment records and support smooth onboarding for candidates and managers.

Job description

As an Apprentice Recruitment Assistant, you'll be a key part of our friendly and supportive People Services team, helping to deliver a professional, efficient and compliant recruitment service across the College. Working closely with the whole People Services team, hiring managers and candidates, you'll support the full recruitment lifecycle, helping to attract, recruit and onboard new colleagues. You'll gain valuable hands‑on experience while developing your knowledge of recruitment, HR administration and safer recruitment practices. You'll also work towards your Level 3 HR CIPD qualification, with one dedicated study day per week. Following successful completion of the qualification, you will progress to a Recruitment Assistant role on Band 4 £25,256 to £26,348 per annum. Your day‑to‑day will include:

  • Supporting recruitment campaigns by posting vacancies and responding to candidate enquiries.
  • Providing first‑line support to candidates and answering recruitment‑related queries.
  • Completing pre‑employment checks, including references, DBS disclosures and right to work documentation.
  • Preparing offer letters, contracts and onboarding paperwork for new starters.
  • Maintaining accurate recruitment records and supporting a smooth onboarding experience for candidates and managers.

  • Competitive salary - £24,840 to £25,230 FTE. (This will be pro‑rata for part‑time posts)
