Begin your manufacturing career by joining our successful apprentice programme, learning all elements of medical equipment manufacturing and supply chain management over two years while studying for an NVQ in lean manufacturing, supported by our long-time partners Saint Helens Chamber of Commerce.

Operations Team

You will join a team supported by the company’s Operations & Finance Director, alongside an experienced Operations Coordinator and an innovative Product Engineering team, who will coach and mentor you throughout your apprenticeship journey.

Role/Mission

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates to undertake a Lean Manufacturing apprenticeship within the fast-growing and innovative Medical Technology sector. The apprenticeship offers a clear career progression roadmap and incremental pay reviews during the 18-month programme, leading onto the organisation’s 3-level skills-based reward scheme.

The core mission of the Apprentice Product Technician is to learn all manufacturing processes for the full Inovus product range, supported by product engineers and the company’s leadership. Responsibilities include:

  • Processing acrylic plastics and producing acrylic sub-assemblies.
  • Performing 3D printing processes, including post-processing such as polishing and dyeing.
  • Producing medical models using silicone and pigments, casting materials into moulds, and assembling models.
  • Assembling mechanical and electronic components for the flagship LapAR simulator.
  • Assembling electrical components, such as circuit boards, using soldering irons and pick-and-place machinery.
  • Labelling products accurately, maintaining stock levels, and participating in goods-in and goods-out processes.
  • Fulfilling company orders by packaging products appropriately for dispatch, collaborating with sales and marketing teams.
  • Working within a 6S Lean Manufacturing environment, developing key lean skills and techniques.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Five GCSEs A*-C are required.
  • A desire to work in manufacturing, with experience in making and designing components and products, is desirable.
  • Experience with laser cutters, silicone materials, 3D printing, or assembling electrical components is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • We seek a highly motivated individual eager to expand their skills and contribute to our growing manufacturing team.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required, along with employability skills such as CV writing, data handling, and effective communication.
