Job summary

Realise is looking for an Apprentice Nursery Educator to join a friendly team. You will care for a group of key children, observe and record development, and safeguard welfare at all times.

You will build strong partnerships with parents, support day-to-day learning activities, and work with colleagues to create an enabling environment for play and growth. Training leads to Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship, with 40-hour weeks, Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• GCSE maths and English at grade C or above, or willing to complete functional skills.
• Strong interest in working with children and helping them grow.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and parents/carers.
• Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Willingness to participate in on-the-job training and meetings.

Job description

As an Apprentice Nursery Educator, you will be part of a friendly and supportive team, responsible for a group of key children, planning and completing observations, and ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all children at all times.

• To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery
• To ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted
• To give support to other team members throughout the nursery
• To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.
• Work with and support children
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with parents.
• Operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members
• To keep records of your key children's development and learning journeys and share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child's life
• To follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure
• Support all staff and engage in a good staff team
• Liaise with and support parents and other family members
• To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parent evening, fundraising events etc.
• To respect the confidentiality of all information received.
• To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key person
• To ensure that meal times are a time of pleasant social sharing
• Washing and changing children as required
• To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs

Working Week 40 hours a week - Monday to Friday (shifts agreed at offer stage)

You need to have at least a 4/C Grade or above GCSE maths and English or be willing to complete your functional skills alongside your apprenticeship Personal Qualities You should have a strong interest in working with children to help them develop and grow. You should demonstrate a good work ethic and be able to communicate effectively with the people around you, making sure that you treat both other staff and children with respect and care at all times. Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day. You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:

• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
• Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
