Aspire Nursery is offering an Apprenticeship opportunity for a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner. You will work under supervision to support daily routines, recording observations, planning, and learning journeys in line with EYFS, and contribute to a stimulating, safe environment for children.

You'll build strong relationships with parents and staff, attend training, and develop professional skills through a blended learning programme that includes DBS processing and completion of English/Maths

Purpose of the role -

It is the Nursery Practitioners duty to participate in the daily supervision of the room in accordance with the requirement of company policies, and other relevant legislation, and all local authority and Ofsted requirements.

The Nursery Practitioner role is to provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment for all children, always promoting equality and diversity.

The Nursery Practitioner will be expected to build good working relationships at every level. Working in partnership with parents and families is highly valued and the Nursery Practitioners must be approachable, friendly and able to always communicate effectively. At all times the Nursery Practitioner will be expected to respect the confidentiality of sensitive family information (subject to child protection policies and procedures).

Main duties and responsibilities -

• To ensure that paperwork is completed and monitored within the room effectively. Ensure that daily paperwork such as written observations, planning, learning journeys are relevant, linked to the EYFS and kept up to date on a weekly basis.
• Ensure parent partnerships are maintained, and the parent board is being used and changed daily. Communicate clearly and effectively with parents / carers sharing relevant information ensuring quality handovers. Ensure that you show an approachable, inviting, positive and involving demeanour towards all who enter a room.
• To liaise with colleagues when finishing a shift, advising them of any information that is to be relayed to parents when the child is collected or dropped off at nursery. It is paramount that information shared to other colleagues is on a need-to-know basis, respecting confidentiality. Ensuring confidentiality of information of a child / family / circumstances or other colleagues is kept confidential in and out of the setting. You should maintain regular communication with colleagues and other key people in the nursery.
• Ensure your working practice is to a high standard.
• Ensure relevant paperwork is in place prior to new child starting the setting if you are the child’s key person.
• It should be your priority to safeguard children and their wellbeing. Knowing how to log a concern to the correct person and follow safeguarding procedures is paramount.
• Timekeeping is paramount, and it is essential that you are here five minutes prior to starting your shift. Your day off / half a day off is flexible within working practice of the nursery. Also, flexibility regarding working in different rooms and/or settings as and when required to ensure effective operation of the nursery. You must attend all out of hour’s activities: staff meetings, training, parents’ evenings, nursery events.
• To undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of meals, snacks cleansing of equipment, putting out bins, cleaning etc
• Presentation of your rooms needs to always be of a high standard coinciding with the EYFS seven areas of learning. Remembering your presentation is exemplary and correct uniform must be always worn.
• Ensure that practice always embraces equality opportunity policy to ensure that everyone is treated as individuals with respect and full consideration. Ensure that the requirements of children with additional needs are fully supported via appropriate programmes, and to work with the relevant outside agencies / professionals to support the child’s needs.
• To assist in the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and their respective stages of development, teaching the children to respect and look after their environment.

Training Information -

Over the course of 15 - 18 months (dependent upon the level of course an apprentice is being enrolled onto), you will study units such as health & safety in a childcare setting, holistic child development, safeguarding in a childcare setting, child development, communication with children, purposeful play and educational programmes, supporting children with special educational needs, collaborative working in early years childcare, wellbeing principles for children and at higher levels, child protection, data, supporting key life transitions and behaviour management (these modules may differ).

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will achieve a Level 3 qualification and a TQUK Diploma in Early Years.

We and our employer partners are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, so a DBS check will be required for this role. To make you aware, this position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore all convictions, cautions and bind-overs, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared, and you will be asked about these during the recruitment process.

If you do not hold GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent), these will be delivered alongside the apprenticeship programme.

Our delivery of training is through blended learning. Supported by one of our sector specialist tutors, they will deliver teaching sessions using various methods including face to face teaching, Skype, Facetime, telephone and peer virtual classroom whilst using our interactive multi-sensory teaching resources. Teaching sessions are normally bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the learner’s preferred learning style. Additionally, the tutor will provide the support required to ensure the learner enjoys and ultimately successfully achieves their goals and completes their training. We want learners to feel that our team are approachable at any stage of their learning journey.

You will initially take an online assessment that will help us to understand your learning style and needs, then we will tailor your learning experience accordingly. We ensure that you stay on track to complete your programme on time by managing your expectations through our state-of-the-art e-portfolio system. At the end of your programme, your learnt knowledge, skills and behaviours will be assessed by an independent assessor in your end point assessment (EPA).

As part of the apprenticeship, alongside your job role, 20% of your time in work must be dedicated to developing new skills. This can be any time devoted to learning and improving new skills without interruption.
