Job summary

The Best Connection are recruiting an Apprentice Machinist for a long-established client based in Forest Row. You will receive full training on saw, planing and moulding machinery and have a clear path for progression. Joining a friendly team, you will learn from experienced professionals and contribute to production targets.

Hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am-5:00pm with a rotational Saturday 8am-1pm in the yard; salary is £29,741.40 per annum.

Qualifications

• Ideally experience operating machinery.
• Experience operating Counterbalance Forklifts is preferred but not essential.
• Good understanding of timber products and machining processes (ideal).
• Ability to read and follow sales orders.
• Physically fit and capable of manual work.
• Able to work independently and use own initiative.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to safely operate the machinery.
• Cut, prepare and process products to specification.
• Assist with the handling and movement of timber throughout the workplace.
• Work as part of a small team to meet production targets.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety.
• Support yard operations and customer requirements, including Saturday yard duties.
• Keep work areas clean, safe and organised.

Responsibilities of the Apprentice Machinist:
