Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Machine Operator to join the Glasgow workshop on a fulltime basis. You will operate manual machining equipment on propulsion equipment, preparing and inspecting parts to meet stringent quality standards.

Reporting to the Workshop Foreman Propulsion, you will maintain records, follow safety protocols, and collaborate across teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.

Qualifications

  • Technical or vocational training in a related field and/or metal working.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to use manual machines, such as lathes, mills or horizontal borers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require standing and working in variable positions.

We are seeking a Machine Operator to join our team at our Glasgow workshop. This role will report to Workshop Foreman Propulsion and it is a fulltime role.

The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating manual machines on different propulsion equipment.

What you will do:
  • Operate manual machining equipment to parts and components according to specifications.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would have:
