37.5 hours, permanent post working as a support scientist within the Microbiology department.
The Pathology Departments of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust are collaborating to develop a joint service across hospital sites. While based at The James Cook University Hospital, this position may require cross-site working.
An enthusiastic Healthcare Science Support Worker (formerly Medical Laboratory Assistant) is sought to join the Microbiology department.
The department operates a 24/7 shift system at A4C rates, with participation in shift work after training. The post holder will undertake the Healthcare Science Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship, with study leave provided (location to be confirmed).
A high standard of patient confidentiality is essential.
The department is UKAS accredited and IBMS training approved. CPD is encouraged.
The post holder should have good IT skills, a professional telephone manner, flexibility, manual dexterity, and experience working with automated equipment to assist Biomedical Scientists.
Note: Most UK apprenticeship programs are government-funded. To qualify, you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years prior to starting, meaning living in the UK for most of the past three years without significant absences.
