Job summary

Galliford Try is recruiting for an Apprentice Estimator in Mansfield (Huthwaite area) to start in Summer 2027 with the possibility of an earlier start. The programme covers on-site estimating tasks, tender preparation, and progression through a Trainee Development Programme with fully funded academic support.

You’ll work across site and workshop teams, gaining practical, commercial and industry knowledge while studying towards qualifications.

Qualifications

• Eligible to live and work in the UK without restriction.
• Willing to learn and develop skills throughout the apprenticeship.
• Interest in construction, estimating and project delivery.”

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of estimates and tender submissions for fabricated pipework and metalwork projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation to understand project requirements.
• Assist with material take-offs and labour estimates under guidance.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to support tendering.
• Maintain accurate estimating records, databases and costing information.
• Assist in identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering during tender stage.
• Work with site, workshop and engineering teams to generate labour estimates.
• Contribute to technical and commercial tender submissions in line with client requirements.
• Attend internal meetings, site visits and client engagements to understand project delivery and customer requirements.
• Develop knowledge of fabrication methods and installation techniques to improve estimating capability.”
• Assist with project handovers ensuring tender information is communicated to delivery teams.”
• Develop knowledge of industry standards, client specs and contractual requirements relevant to fabrication.”
