Our Apprenticeship Programme

The Linde Material Handling Engineering Apprenticeship Programme aims to develop skilled engineers to support our field, workshop, and site-based operations. The main goal is to learn how to become a fully competent Linde engineer by applying college learning and demonstrating this knowledge to mentors and assessors, meeting customer needs with appropriate material handling solutions.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Apprentice Engineer for the South region. You should be passionate about engineering, eager to learn, motivated to succeed, and interested in joining a multinational engineering company to start your career.

The programme lasts three years, culminating in a Level 3 apprenticeship in Lift Truck & Powered Access Engineering. Throughout, you'll be supported by a dedicated Mentor and an Apprentice Development Officer (ADO), who will oversee your training, combining college education with practical experience. You will learn to inspect, maintain, service, and repair various types of material handling equipment, including forklift trucks and warehouse equipment.

Travel to college and overnight stays will be required, with expenses covered. Upon successful completion, you will be a qualified Linde engineer, ready to start your career.

Your duties and responsibilities include:

  • Attending all required training courses (internal & external)
  • Passing all knowledge block training tests at college
  • Passing End Point Assessment for Level 3 in Lift Truck & Powered Access Engineering
  • Passing all assessments on safety, product knowledge, and diagnostics
  • Completing online tests and assessments within deadlines
  • Maintaining your e-Portfolio to standards
  • Collaborating with trainers to achieve your qualification
  • Gaining competence in preventative maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics

Qualifications and skills needed:

  • GCSE Grade 4 or above in Math and English (or predicted grades) or National 5 in Scotland
  • A full driving license
  • An interest in engineering and technology
