Vacancy Description

To be part of the Muntons Engineering team responsible for the maintenance and continued efficient and safe running of the Stowmarket site. To undertake an apprenticeship recognized by Muntons to meet the correct framework to outcome. Ultimately, responsible for electrical and mechanical engineering works, including planned maintenance, small projects, installations, and breakdown repairs.

Day-to-Day Engineering - Led by and with your mentor:

• Respond proactively to engineering breakdowns to maximize production and minimize plant downtime.
• Plan access for preventive maintenance tasks as per the CMMS system.
• Communicate daily with your mentor and Engineering Team Leader to coordinate priorities.
• Participate in and update all taskings from the CMMS system.
• Prioritize tasks, breakdowns, and preventive maintenance.
• Work flexibly, adapting to changing work demands and routines.

General Maintenance Activities:

• Perform day-to-day repairs within your skillset and training.
• Carry out plant modifications as required.
• Participate in maintenance work during plant shutdowns.

Plant Hygiene:

• Ensure tools and equipment are removed from food processing areas after tasks.
• Maintain a tidy engineering workshop.

Administration:

• Respond to internal customer requests, providing updates via email and CMMS.
• Keep task records up to date, including work completed, in the CMMS.

Electrical Work:

• Fault find on electrical control and power systems, including intermittent faults.
• Identify causes of motor overloading, test/replace failed motors, and select suitable alternatives to restore processes.

Electro-mechanical Work:

• Fault find and repair pneumatic solenoid valves and cylinders.
• Test electrical actuators on valves and air louvres.

Mechanical Work:

• Identify and repair failed bearings on shafts, motors, conveyors, and elevators.
• Perform repairs to shafts.
