Job summary

AFI Group of Companies, through AFI-Rentals, offers a three-year Apprentice Engineer program based at our Rothwell depot. You’ll gain practical workshop experience while attending block-release training at F-TEC Swindon to obtain the Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, working on our fleet of truck-mounted and powered access machinery.

Qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSEs at Grade 4 / C or above (or equivalent).
  • Clear interest and natural aptitude for practical engineering.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the role and a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, follow safety instructions, and contribute to a team.
  • Willingness to attend block-release training modules at F‑TEC in Swindon.
  • A full UK driving licence (or working towards one) is advantageous for future progression.

Responsibilities

  • Depot Training: Inspect, service, fault‑find, and repair systems on our fleet.
  • Block Release College: Attend structured block‑release modules at F‑TEC Swindon to earn your Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Safety & Standards: Carry out Pre‑Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and maintain accurate service records to ensure machines meet strict safety and industry regulations.
