Job summary

AFI Group in Winchester invites applications for an Apprentice Engineer. This 3-year program combines hands-on workshop experience with specialist block-release training at F-TEC Swindon, progressing you to proficient service of our modern fleet.

You'll work with experienced engineers on maintenance, PDIs, and records, gaining practical skills in complex systems while following safety standards and contributing to a growing national hire fleet.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
• Strong interest and aptitude for practical engineering.
• Genuine enthusiasm, willingness to learn and develop skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, follow safety instructions and contribute to a team.
• Willingness to attend block-release training modules at F-TEC Swindon.
• Full UK driving licence (or working towards one) is advantageous for progression.

Responsibilities

• Depot Training: Inspect, service, fault-find, and repair systems on our fleet.
• Block Release College: Attend structured modules at F-TEC Swindon to earn Level 3 Apprenticeship.
• Safety & Standards: Carry out PDIs and maintain service records to meet safety regulations.

Based from our Winchester depot, this 3-year apprenticeship combines practical, real-world workshop experience alongside specialist block-release training at F-TEC in Swindon, the UK's leading training provider for the powered access and material handling sectors.

As an Apprentice Engineer, you will gain valuable practical experience servicing and maintaining our expanding hire fleet of modern truck-mounted and powered access machinery. Working alongside experienced service engineers, you will learn to master complex systems.

• Depot Training: Inspect, service, fault-find, and repair systems on our fleet.
• Block Release College: Attend structured block-release modules at F-TEC Swindon to earn your Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard.
• Safety & Standards: Carry out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) and maintain accurate service records to ensure machines meet strict safety and industry regulations.
