Job Description:

We have an opportunity in our Cambridge office for an apprentice Employer’s Agent (EA) / Quantity Surveyor to work within our EA / Cost Management Team, to help provide construction cost and EA management services to our local, regional and national clients in the UK and around the world.

AECOM provides EA / Cost Management services to Clients in both the public and private sector and to organisations in all areas of the Construction Industry including:

  • Commercial – new build, refurbishment and fit out for a variety of public and private sector clients.
  • Industrial developments for developers and occupiers.
  • Infrastructure schemes, including large scale rail, highways and water projects.

You will also have the chance to be involved in all stages of a project; from initial project definition and brief to cost planning, procurement, construction, and building use. You will work with a variety of clients, often alongside other construction professionals in multi-disciplinary teams. We believe hands-on experience offers the best learning, so you will be given responsibilities and work both independently and as part of a team, with guidance and support to develop your skills. As an Apprentice, AECOM will support your academic pathway, culminating in a professional qualification.

Job Responsibilities

The EA / QS role can vary depending on the client, sector, and project, generally split into pre- and post-contract duties:

Pre-Contract:
  • Cost planning and estimating
  • Attending design and client meetings
  • Assisting in preparing documentation
  • Procurement and managing tenders
  • Contract documentation
  • Developing programmes and documentation
Post-Contract:
  • Managing post-contract activities
  • Managing meetings, reports, and documentation to track cost, quality, and schedule
  • Site progress meetings
  • Valuations and financial reporting
  • Minute taking and report writing
  • Issuing instructions, valuations, and managing variations

As an Apprentice at AECOM Cambridge, you'll assist in all these tasks and see projects from start to finish.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with:

  • 112 UCAS tariff points (A-Level B-B-C or BTEC DMM)
  • GCSE Mathematics & English Grade 4/C or above
