Job summary

Colas Ltd invites applications for an Apprentice Engineer based at Guilden Sutton depot. The 36‑month apprenticeship leads to a Level 3 Civil Engineering Technician qualification, with hands-on work on highways and infrastructure projects, plus study through Liverpool College.

You will gain practical experience on site and in the office, including inspections, drawings, data collection and CAD/BIM usage, while developing professional skills and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• A-levels, BTEC, T-Level or equivalent qualifications in Engineering, Construction or Mathematics.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
• Willingness to learn through education, work experience or volunteering; driving licence or willingness to work towards one.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with inspections and assessments of highways and infrastructure assets.
• Supporting engineers with highway maintenance and improvement projects.
• Collecting, recording and analysing engineering data, measurements and survey information.
• Supporting the preparation of technical drawings, reports and project documentation.
• Using CAD, BIM and other engineering software.
• Attending site visits to monitor progress, quality and safety.
• Learning and applying engineering principles and industry standards.
• Maintaining accurate project records.
