Job summary

Courtyard by Marriott Exeter is seeking an enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to join our busy kitchen at Sandy Park, Exeter. You will learn food preparation, professional cookery, knife skills and hygiene under NVQ Level 2 on-site training, with support to develop hands-on abilities in a professional environment.

No previous kitchen experience is required. You will work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with meals provided and access to our training resources as you grow your career in

Qualifications

• No previous professional kitchen experience is essential, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are valued.
• NVQ Level 2 on-site training provides practical kitchen skills.
• You will learn through hands-on practice in a busy hotel kitchen.

Kitchen & Bistro ; Located on our 3rd floor, this more relaxed dining option caterers for the business guests all day and offers simple dishes using the best local ingredients Devon has offer.

As well as our 2 culinary offerings, we cater for meetings and events whilst hosting elite sports teams, along with bespoke celebrations.

Our Ideal Apprentice

You do not need to arrive as an experienced chef. What matters most is that you bring enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn. We will support you in developing the practical skills, knowledge and confidence needed to build your career within hospitality, whilst supporting you with your NVQ level 2 training on site.

No previous professional kitchen experience is essential. We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine interest in food and developing a career as a chef.
• Is enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn.
• Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.
• Can follow instructions and has good attention to detail.
• Is comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment.
• Understands the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
• Is willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required by the business.
• Is committed to completing the required apprenticeship training and qualification.
