Fixed Term for 24 months, 30hrs p/w

The opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Business Support Officer within the M&E section within Planned Programmes.

About Us

Programmes Service responsibilities include managing Cyclical Maintenance, Mechanical, Electrical & Gas, and laundry, safety testing and servicing, for our 28,000 tenancies; including urgent and standard repairs as well as the yearly maintenance programmes. The service has gone through major transformation and is widely recognised as providing a top-quality repairs and maintenance service to our Citizens.

What will I be doing?

The role will include working as part of a team to set up and support systems and processes and provide administration support services for the Planned Programmes teams. You will need to have an eye for detail in carrying out your work, be flexible in your approach and willing to learn new tasks to help the team achieve set targets. In a busy working environment, you will be allocated several tasks. As a customer orientated service, you will be arranging and rearrange appointments with tenants and team members, therefore good communication skills will be required as part of your engagement with team members and customers to help completing daily tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and learn new skills in a friendly and positive, front facing business environment.

What do I need to have?

  • Ability and willingness to work towards a level 3 qualification (eg NVQ level 3, Business Administrations, customer services
  • Be able to manage your own time and prioritise tasks
  • Working knowledge or experience of customer service or able to demonstrate a willingness to work with tenants and other sections within Bristol City Council
  • Understand the importance of health & safety procedures within an operational working environment
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of equalities and diversity issues.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent including the following: Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.

The ability to converse with citizens and provide complex information in accurate spoken English, or through a BSL interpreter and use of written and electronic media, so that information is clearly understood and acted upon.

  • Planning and arranging the flow of work across planned and responsive repairs for external contractors and site based in house resources
  • Loading jobs on MIS systems, for in-house and external resources, and rearranging appointments with customers
