Job Title: Behaviour Support Officer – Secondary School | Ideal for Recent Graduates & Youth Support Workers
Location: Cardiff
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full Time
Pay: £89.38 per day (Term Time Only)

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Behaviour Support Officer for a secondary school starting this September. This role is perfect for recent graduates or individuals interested in youth support work looking to develop a career in education.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Officer at a Cardiff Secondary school, you will play a key role in supporting students with challenging behaviour, promoting positive behaviour, and helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience working within a secondary school setting and contribute to students’ personal development and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students exhibiting challenging behaviour to improve engagement and learning outcomes
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and families to implement effective behaviour strategies
  • Assist with managing behaviour incidents and encouraging positive behaviour throughout the school
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive school environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Recent graduates or individuals passionate about youth support and education
  • Strong communication, patience, and empathy skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Experience working with children or young people (paid or voluntary) is beneficial but not essential
  • Motivated, reliable, and committed to supporting student wellbeing and development
