Job summary

Shetland Islands Council in Lerwick is offering a Modern Apprentice Building Maintenance Technician post. You will be supported to qualify as a Building Maintenance Technician while you study for the required qualifications.

Over four years you will complete an HNC in Construction Management and SVQ Levels 3 and 4, working across schools and care settings, in a small professional team focused on repairs, maintenance and safety.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship pathway to become a qualified Building Maintenance Technician.
• Must be willing to study while working and meet health & safety requirements.
• PVG scheme will be considered or updated prior to formal offer.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surveying services and advise on estates and property matters.
• Support repairs, maintenance, and alterations across Council buildings.
• Work with a small team from inception to completion, ensuring statutory requirements are met.
