Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is offering an Apprenticeship Assistant Management Accountant role in Sunderland. The apprenticeship includes studying toward AAT while you work and earning real experience in a large NHS organisation.

Year 1 70% top ofband 4 - £21,810

Year 2 75% top ofband 4 - £23,368

On successfulcompletion of the apprenticeship you will move into a permanent band 4 rolestarting on £28,392 per year.

Main duties of the job

As a Apprentice AssistantManagement Accounting Apprentice you will be gaining all the skills andexperience from Financial Management while studying for the AATqualification. Part of the role will beto use a computerised ledger system and Microsoft office packages, this is toprovide analysis to department managers and budget holders.

Therole is based at Sunderland Royal hospital with hybrid home workingarrangements in place and the working hours are Monday to Friday. You will workwithin a well-established team in a supportive and flexible environment.

Job responsibilities

This is an apprenticeship andeligibility is governed by the UK government funding rules an individual is noteligible for an apprenticeship if they fall into any of the followingcategories:

Ineligible based on Visa and Residency status

RecentInternational students and Graduate Visa Holders, anyone who has lived in theUK for the last 3 years wholly or mainly for full-time education (such as on astudent visa)

Short -term Visa Holders anyone on a visa that expires before the planned end date ofthe apprenticeship training (e.g a Graduate Visa with only 18 months left for a24 month programme)

Thosewithout the 3-year Residency, Non -UL nationals who have not been"ordinarily resident" in the UK for 3 consecutive years immediatelypreceding the start of the apprenticeship

Person Specification

Experience

• Experience of assisting in the production of income and/or expenditure annual budgets and monthly management reports.
• Experience of spreadsheet, database and computerised ledger applications.
• Finance experience.

Skills & Knowledge

• Numerate and IT aware, with good keyboard skills.
• Able to undertake initial investigation and resolution of expenditure
• variances within area of responsibility.
• Able to analyse and manipulate large volumes of complex data into meaningful information and produce summaries for review by the Management Accountant.
• Able to plan own work to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines are met.
• Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with finance and non-finance staff.
• Flexibility to work within the Divisional team or across the teams as required.
• Reliable and committed to delivering targets and achieving outcomes.
• Knowledge of the NHS financial regime and relevant legislation and guidance.

Qualifications

• GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C or above (4-9).
• Required to study and complete AAT qualification/ part AAT qualified.
