Qualifications

Job description

An excellent opportunity for an aspiring accountant to embark on a structured training programme while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and modern accountancy practice. This role involves studying towards the AAT qualification while working across various accounting functions, including bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll, statutory accounts and tax preparation. The position offers exposure to a wide range of financial services, providing a strong foundation for a future career in accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping up to trial balance and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts and corporation tax returns.
  • Supporting payroll processing for clients.
  • Preparing personal tax returns and assisting on audit assignments.
  • Developing, documenting, and updating new procedures and systems.
  • Handling ad hoc assignments as required.

Experience and Skills Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 6 or above preferred).
  • Three A-Levels (including Mathematics) at Grade B or above preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • A proactive and organised approach to work.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and personable manner.
