Job description

Amazon Devices is an innovative research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile devices such as the Kindle family, Fire Tablets, Fire TV, Health Wellness products, Amazon Echo, and Astro products. This presents an exciting opportunity to join Amazon in developing state-of-the-art techniques that bring Generative AI to edge devices for our consumer products. We are seeking exceptional scientists to join our Applied Science team to develop the next generation of edge models, optimize them, and co-design custom ML hardware based on revolutionary architectures. Key job responsibilities

1. Quantize, prune, distill, and finetune Generative AI models to optimize them for edge platforms.
2. Understand Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine to invent new optimization techniques.
3. Analyze deep learning workloads and guide their mapping to Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine.
4. Apply principles from Information Theory, Scientific Computing, Deep Learning Theory, and Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics.
5. Train custom Generative AI models that outperform state-of-the-art and pave the way for production models.
6. Collaborate with compiler engineers, fellow applied scientists, hardware architects, and product teams to develop the best ML-centric solutions for our devices.
7. Publish research in open source and present at key ML conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, and MLSys.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
• Experience in areas like algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience using Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience in professional software development.
• Knowledge of standard speech and machine learning techniques.
