Amazon Devices is an innovative research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile devices like the Kindle family, Fire Tablets, Fire TV, Health & Wellness products, Amazon Echo, and Astro products. We offer an exciting opportunity to join Amazon in developing state-of-the-art techniques that bring Generative AI to edge devices for our consumers. We are seeking exceptional scientists to join our Applied Science team to develop and optimize next-generation edge models, co-designed with custom ML hardware based on a revolutionary architecture. Key Job Responsibilities

1. Quantize, prune, distill, and fine-tune Generative AI models to optimize for edge platforms.
2. Understand Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine to invent new optimization techniques.
3. Analyze deep learning workloads and guide their mapping to Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine.
4. Apply principles from Information Theory, Scientific Computing, Deep Learning Theory, and Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics.
5. Train custom Generative AI models that outperform state-of-the-art and pave the way for production models.
6. Collaborate with compiler engineers, fellow Applied Scientists, Hardware Architects, and product teams to develop ML-centric solutions for our devices.
7. Publish research in open source forums and present at key ML conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, and MLSys.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
• Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
• Experience in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Unix/Linux environments.
• Professional software development experience.
• Knowledge of standard speech and machine learning techniques.
