Job summary

Consult is seeking a Technical Director, Applied AI based in the United Kingdom. This hands‑on leadership role focuses on applying AI to game development, creative production, and engineering workflows, bridging AI, Engineering, Technical Art, Creative Technology, and R&D.

You will prototype, validate, and productionize AI tools and workflows across Unity, Unreal, Houdini, Blender, Maya, and related platforms, while educating teams and guiding strategic AI adoption in a fully remote,

Qualifications

• Senior-level software/technical leadership in game development or related fields.
• Proven track record building real-world tools, plugins, pipelines, or production technologies.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, C++, or TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of modern AI models, APIs, coding agents, automation, and AI-assisted development.
• Ability to rapidly prototype concepts and assess practical value.
• Experience taking R&D projects from early experiments to production-ready solutions.
• Strong understanding of real-time production and game development workflows.
• Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, Houdini, Blender, Maya.
• Excellent communication and ability to mentor and teach others.

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging AI models, APIs, and automation technologies.
• Identify practical AI opportunities across game development, art production, and engineering workflows.
• Build proof-of-concepts to validate technical and production value of new ideas.
• Take successful R&D experiments through validation, integration, and adoption as production-ready tools.
• Explore AI-assisted workflows across Unity3D, Unreal Engine, Houdini, Blender, Maya, and other platforms.
• Collaborate with engineers, artists, and production teams to turn experiments into scalable tools.
• Establish practical AI standards and educate teams for responsible adoption.
• Document workflows and lead internal workshops to grow AI capabilities.
