Job summary

Hudson River Trading is hiring for the Applied AI team to accelerate research and production workflows with scalable AI infrastructure and agent-based systems. The role focuses on training, evaluating, and operating large language models and agents, with an emphasis on measurement, experimentation, and secure deployment.

You will work across research and production engineering, turning ambitious AI ideas into durable, robust systems while collaborating with diverse teams worldwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering.
• Strong Python proficiency.
• Excellent software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience building and operating substantial software systems.
• Demonstrated engagement with modern AI systems, tools, or research.
• Experience in AI research/engineering, post-training, or RL is helpful.
• Familiarity with AI-agent architectures, evaluation, or tool-use environments.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, model serving, orchestration, or high-throughput infra.
• Understanding of security sandboxing, policy enforcement, or governance for AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Building scalable infrastructure for training, evaluating, and operating language models and AI agents.
• Developing research environments, evaluation systems, and experimentation platforms.
• Improving model and agent capabilities via post-training, RL, prompting, tool design, and workflow optimization.
• Designing sandboxing, policy enforcement, monitoring, and safeguards for autonomous systems.
• Partnering with teams to identify AI-enabled work and turn experiments into durable systems.
• Evaluating models, techniques, and products and deciding when to build, buy, or adapt them.
• Sharing technical knowledge and establishing best practices across the organization.
