Job summary

Schroders is seeking an Applied AI Software Engineer to build and improve AI-enabled products used across the organisation. This fast-paced delivery role suits engineers who work close to business problems, iterate rapidly, apply strong engineering practices, and develop practical AI solutions that deliver real business value.

You will collaborate with internal customers, product owners and other engineers to turn use cases into safe, reliable software.

Qualifications

• Strong Python-first software engineering background.
• Experience delivering production software, APIs, integrations or user-facing features.
• Familiar with automated testing, CI/CD, debugging and secure coding practices.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and LLM APIs (OpenAI/Anthropic).

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver AI-enabled features and workflows solving business problems.
• Build and maintain production software integrating with data sources, APIs and LLM services.
• Implement components of agentic AI solutions on Schroders' infrastructure including tool integrations and guardrails.
• Collaborate with internal customers and teams to clarify use cases and iterate based on feedback.
• Apply quality, security practices including automated testing and peer review.
• Support evaluation of AI system behaviour and communicate limitations and risks.
• Use AI-assisted coding tools responsibly to improve speed and code quality.
• Engage in code reviews, automated testing, documentation and metrics-driven iteration.
